Sri Lanka and Philippines to Further Strengthen Defence Cooperation


Seventeen (17) member defence delegation from the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) of Sri Lanka headed by Group Captain N.H.D.S Dias successfully concluded their annual study visit to the Philippines from 2nd to 14th August 2018.

During the study programme, the delegation was able to have an overview of the defence related disciplines in the Philippines at the briefings held at the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), AFP Education, Training and Doctrines Command (AFPETDC), National Security Council (NSC), Philippine Navy (PN), Philippine Air Force (PAF), National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP), Arms Corporation of the Philippines (ARMSCOR), Philippine Army (PA), and Philippine Marine Corps (PMC).

The delegation also had a dialogue on various issues of mutual interest at the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines and Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The Overseas Study Tour (OST) to the Philippines has been an annual programme of the DSCSC, Sri Lanka, since 2014. The OST programme to the Philippines has benefited both the faculty members and students of DSCSC to gain first-hand knowledge of the functions of various military and civil establishments in the Philippines.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Manila in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) organized the study visit for the year 2018.
