Revival of talks for the Air Services Agreement between Sri Lanka and the Philippines
Ambassador Shobini Gunasekera met with Atty. Carmelo L. Arcilla, Executive Director of the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) of the Philippines, on 26th April 2022, to discuss the resumption of talks to conclude the Bilateral Air Services Agreement between Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
The Bilateral Air Services Consultations were conducted in Manila from 18 to 19 July 2011 to modernize the existing Air Transport Agreement between the two countries which was signed on 18th December 1956.
This agreement will benefit not only the Filipinos and their families who work and reside in Sri Lanka but also Sri Lankans by affording them the option to take direct flights to the Philippines. It would also help boost tourism and encourage increased business travel between the two countries.
The CAB officials who joined the meeting were Atty. Jeanne Marion Bermudez, Chief of the Planning Division and Atty. Clarabel Lacsina, Board Secretary. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs. Thanuja Dissanayake, Minister/Head of Chancery of the Embassy of Sri Lanka, and Ms. Angelica Barredo, Secretary to the Ambassador.
