“Destination Sri Lanka” showcased at the 25th PTAA Travel and Tour Expo 2018 – Manila, Philippines


Sri Lanka Embassy in Manila with the support of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), participated at the 25th Philippine Travel Agencies Association Travel and Tour Expo 2018 from 09th to 11th February 2018 at the SMX Convention Center in Manila.

PTAA Travel and Tour Expo is the biggest annual exhibition for the tourism market in the Philippines which promote inbound and outbound tourism as well as strengthening relations between the tourism related bodies around the world.


The official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of 25th Travel and Tour Expo 2018 was held at the Conrad Hotel Manila on 08th February and declared open by Hon.  Allan Caniezal, Undersecretary of the Department of Tourism, Ms. Marlene Dado Jante, PTAA President, Mr. Ryan Uy, Philippine Airlines Vice President for Sales and other distinguished guests. This year’s expo was supported by the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Promotions Board of the Philippines along with reputed companies as major sponsors. Sri Lanka Ambassador to the Philippines Mrs. Aruni Ranaraja graced the official opening ceremony.

This year’s edition also coincide with the 25th anniversary of the PTAA and attracted around 140,000 visitors with more than 400 inbound-outbound travel traders, airline companies, hotels, resorts, theme parks, cruise lines from the Philippines and across the world.


Sri Lanka as a destination was promoted for the first time at this year’s expo with the objective of creating awareness amongst the Filipino tourists.

Approximately five million Filipino tourists made international trips for leisure and business purposes in last year. This makes Philippines as an emerging market for the Sri Lankan tourism industry.
