Ambassador Shobini Gunasekera discussed business and investments opportunities in Sri Lanka with Engr. Enunina Mangio over dinner on 14 October 2020 at the Makati Shangri La.

Engr. Enunina Mangio is a seasoned entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist. She was the appointed Chairperson of the recently-held 46th Philippine Business Conference & Expo, the annual convention of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI). She is also the Chairman of the Philippine- Korea Business Council and the Executive Director of the Philippine-USA Business Council.

She helms several local and multinational corporations as Chairman/CEO with interests in the restaurant/food service, renewable energy, mining, and property development. Most notable of her ventures is her restaurant chain which has 50+ branches all over the Philippines.

Engr. Mangio expressed her interest to study the possibility of establishing a franchise of her restaurant chain in Colombo as well as to network with reputed Ceylon tea brand for a distributorship in the Philippines. On the other hand, Ambassador Gunasekera elaborated on other viable opportunities in the industries of spices, apparels, gems/jewelry, IT-BPM, etc. as well as the investment opportunities in the Colombo Port City.

The meeting is a part of the series of exploratory interactions between the Embassy and the PCCI and relevant business stakeholders in the Philippines with a view to pursuing collaborative engagements with the business sector in Sri Lanka.

Mrs. Thanuja Dissanayake, Minister/Head of Chancery, Mr. Gerald Nuñez, Trade Officer of the Embassy, and Mr. Edwin Glindro, PCCI Assistant Secretary General, joined the fruitful meeting.
