Ceylon Tea showcased at “Shop Global, Help Local” in Manila


The International Bazaar Foundation’s Annual Bazaar which was celebrating its Golden Jubilee showcased Ceylon Tea at a well-received presentation through the Pavilion organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Manila. Conceptualized on the theme   “Enjoy a Good Cup of Ceylon Tea”, the Pavilion was declared open by Hon. Perfecto R. Yasay, Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, and Mme. Cecile Yasay, Chairperson of the International Bazaar Foundation (IBF) and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Manila, Mrs. Aruni Ranaraja, together with the Members of the Board of Trustees of the IBF.

Strengthening Relations in the Higher Education Sector

Embassy Officials met the Vice President of the Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation (VMUF) in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines, to discuss matters relating to the welfare of the Sri Lankan students enrolled at the VMUF on 17th August 2016.

On the sideline of the meeting with the University administration, Embassy Officials also had a discussion with the Sri Lankan students regarding their concerns including Consular matters.

Since 2008, Sri Lankan students have enrolled in the VMUF and currently there are 151 Sri Lankan students following the courses in Medicine and Biology.
