“Best Ceylon Coffee to the Philippines

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Manila attended the opening ceremony of the newest branch of Ceylon Coffee Club in the Philippines on 12 July 2022 in Morong, Bataan.

The coffee retail chain operated by Ceylanka Trading serves beverages made with coffee sourced from Sri Lanka conceptualized especially for the taste and preferences of the predominantly coffee-drinking Philippine market.

Gracing the event as the chief guest, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Philippines Shobini Gunasekera extended her warmest congratulations to Mr. John Gachitorena, the branch’s franchisee, and Mr. Minodh De Sylva, Chief Business Officer of Ceylanka Trading, for the momentous occasion in their business partnership.

In her remarks, she elaborated on the rich history of coffee in Sri Lanka and its remarkable progress in redeeming its prominence and share in the global market. She also briefed the attendees, which includes guests, customers, and prospective franchisees, on the resilience of the Sri Lankan business sector and the record-high performance of its export industry in the previous months assuring that the production and supply of products from Sri Lanka are unhampered and in fact, are expanding despite the current challenges.

Further, she commended Mr. De Silva for his initiatives in bringing the best products of Sri Lanka to the Philippines first with “Island Tea Co”, a retail chain serving Ceylon tea-based drinks with a network of over 85+ branches globally across Philippines, Sri Lanka, India, UAE , Qatar & Australia.
